At MovementSpark Health, the focus of Therapeutic Massage is with "functional & integrative movement". When you can move easily and without restrictions, your body can improve its capacity for activity and heal. The Integrative Movement Therapy (IMT) approach combines bodywork, education, and "at home" exercises or activities to improve and resolve painful or limiting conditions. It was developed by Paul Cramer (RMT) and is based on his practical experience working with clients for over 22 years. This method seeks to identify the root cause of the condition and challenges that need to be resolved for successful recover. We then establish a course of action for treatment. It involves aspects of structural alignment and postural assessment with myofascial release and joint mobilization and stretching. The basis of the treatment involves assessing how your body and movement patterns are being affected by injury, trauma, pain or repetitive activity. With this information, the session is adapted to address these issues. The expected outcome is that you will feel more "connected" and develop a greater capacity for natural, pain free movement.

Clinical sessions are performed on a soft massage mat on the floor. The client is fully clothed with comfortable, loose fitting clothing that allows for ease of movement. Generally a treatment begins at the feet and works each part of the body for a complete massage treatment. A typical session involves acupressure, joint mobilizations, stretching, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and connective tissue release.
